Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super B - SLR

3rd Sept 2007

Anyone can tell me if this is the correct camera name? I've checked out a site (http://www.lungov.com/wagner/c/082c.html) where they have photos of the Super BC and it shows a battery door compartment in front of the shutter while mine doesn't have it.

Zeiss Ikon Contax F - SLR

Launched in 1956, it has the following features
* an automatic diaphragm release, that is a linkage between body and lens that closes the diaphragm when the shutter release is pressed. The Contax F was the first camera to have this device
* a bigger mirror
* bigger winding and rewind buttons
Also known as the Pentacon F

Zeiss Ikon Nettax 6x6

3rd Sept 2007
Zeiss reused the name Nettax on this 6x6 folding camera, a deluxe version of the Nettar in 1955-57, and should not be confused with the none folding 35mm camera, also named Nettax.

The camera was fitted with a 75/4.5 Novar lens and a Pronto shutter. The camera was discontinued in 1959.

Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super

Launched in 1959, this camera is equipped with a Zeiss Tessar 50mm f:2.8 with helical focusing.

Russian Kiev 4A Type 1 - Rangefinder

30th Aug 2007
Focus to Match Rangefinder, LTM lens mount (leica thread mount)
Found a Kiev Camera Website: http://kievaholic.com/35mm.html
gonna start investigating this rather interesting piece.
31st Aug 2007
Kevin of http://kievaholic.com/ replied and told me that this camera is the Kiev IIA. He also mentioned about how to spot the difference between this and the 4A:
"The Kiev rangefinder cameras went through several model variations which only differ slightly.
What I see is that your camera does not have the black plastic tab on the self timer knob (which Karen Nakamura's camera does have) and so it could not be a 4a.

Also check to see what the top shutter speed is on your camera. If it is 1/1000 then it is a 4a or later. If it is 1/1250 then it is a 2a.

If your camera has a flip out foot on the bottom, that is also another indication of not being a 4a."
He also gave me a link to find out more about Kiev cameras here. http://www.commiecameras.com/sov/35mmrangefindercameras/cameras/kiev/index.htm
3rd Sept 2007
Michael of The Kiev Report corrects this to be the Kiev 4A Type 1 camera. Currently researching more information to post here.
